Mr. Pierpaolo Campostrini was born in Venice and lives there. Since 2000, he is Managing Director of CORILA, an association of Universities and public research bodies for managing research on Venice, supervised by the Ministry of Research of Italy. He is also in the Board of Directors for the managing of Basilica di S. Marco in Venice (Procuratoria di S. Marco), appointed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Degree as Electrical Engineer, he holds a diploma in Plasma Physics and Fusion Engineering. From 1987 to 1998 he was tenure researcher of the National Research Council and participated to the Project RFX, a Fusion experiment in Padua. Then, he worked for a private company and was CEO in a public company for tourism services. Presently, he’s involved in several European Projects, mainly related to Environmental issues. Recently, as Procuratore di S.Marco, he promoted the realisation of a new system for defending the St.Mark’s Basilica from high tides.
